WSSA announces important changes for upcoming tournament season!

WSSA Tournament and Records Changes for 2012-13

In an effort to continually enhance the sport stacking tournament experience, the WSSA announces three significant changes for the 2012-13 sport stacking season. Compliance with these changes is encouraged through the end of 2012 (except for the new timing standard) and will be in full effect beginning January 1, 2013 for all sanctioned tournaments. These changes are fully supported by the new and improved StackTrack tournament management tool, which is essential to putting on a successful event, and will also be required, beginning the first of the year for all WSSA sanctioned tournaments.


In keeping with most traditional sports and to encourage more female participation in sport stacking, males and females will compete separately in the Individual 3-3-3, 3-6-3 and Cycle events only. (This will be mandatory for age divisions 6U through 17-18 and optional for Collegiate, Masters and Senior divisions depending on the size and scope of the tournament). Doubles and Relay events can still be mixed gender.


Sport stacking tournaments and records have historically included a broad range of age divisions that varied by event. With the tremendous growth of tournaments around the world, the WSSA has developed a simplified Age Division structure that includes 12 divisions aligned for all events.
New Standard Age Divisions
Individuals – 6U, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18, Collegiate (19-24), Masters 1 (25-34), Masters 2 (35-44), Masters 3 (45-59), Seniors (60+).
Doubles – 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U, 19+, 25+, 35+, 45+, 60+.
Child/Parent Doubles – CP10U, CP11+ ("Children" 19 and over may compete with their Parent.)
Relays (Timed and H-T-H) – 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U, 19+, 25+, 35+, 45+, 60+
Special Stackers – no changes. Levels and coed Divisions remain as they have been.

Note that provisions have been made within StackTrack to provide Tournament Directors with the option to manipulate certain age/gender divisions for the purpose of creating meaningful competition and presenting awards based on the size and scope of their tournament.

Records – Records will now be maintained in all of the above events and age divisions (except for H-T-H Relays of course) and will include separate "Male" and "Female" records (per age division) in the three Individual events only. All records existing in our 2010 electronic database through July 27, 2012 that fit into these new divisions (including Individual event "male" and "female" records) have been carried forward. Records that didn’t fit into the new divisions have been saved and can be viewed from each record's page.

As announced previously, the WSSA is adopting a new timing standard, which will calculate times to the thousandth of a second. This timing device is the newly developed Speed Stacks StackMat Pro and Tournament Display Pro, both with 3-digit accuracy.
