Date: Mar 21, 2014
If the first two months of 2014 are any indication, the world of sport stacking is in for a very fast-paced year. A new Overall Female 3-6-3 World Record was set in January, and the fastest WSSA records ever documented for the 3-3-3, Cycle and Timed 3-6-3 Relay took place in February.
Chu-Chun Yang from Taiwan added the female record for the 3-6-3 to her collection, which already includes the Overall Female Cycle Record. Her official time for the 3-6-3 was 2.224 seconds set at the WSSA 2014 Taiwan National Sport Stacking Championships in New Taipei City on January 18th.
The next record to fall was the 3-3-3 when William Orrell hit an amazing 1.472 seconds on February 8th at the WSSA Ohio Valley Sport Stacking Championships in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Just a week later at the WSSA Delaware State Sport Stacking Championships, a new Overall Cycle Record was set by William Polly, who hit 5.487 bettering his previous record by .007 of a second. At the same tournament, William teamed up with Zhewei Wu, Zachary Weisel and Chandler Miller to set a new Overall World Record in the Timed 3-6-3 Relay. The new time to beat now stands at 13.176 seconds.
Congratulations to all of these record-setting stackers! With the US Nationals, World Championships, AAU Junior Olympic Games, Asian Open and numerous other state, regional and international tournaments on the horizon, 2014 promises to be a banner year for sport stacking records.
