New World Records in 3-3-3 & Cycle

Thursday Dec 29th 2011
The year 2011 ended with a flourish as two new overall world records were set in the 3-3-3 and the Cycle. Chandler Miller from Georgia earned worldwide bragging rights to the 3-3-3 with a time of 1.63 seconds, and New York’s Mike McCoy is king of the Cycle hitting a time of 5.91 seconds.

New 3-3-3 Overall World Record

On November 17, 2011, Chandler Miller, 13, wowed the crowd at the third annual WSSA Lady’s Island Sport Stacking Tournament in Beaufort, South Carolina stacking at warp speed. His 3-3-3 world record time of 1.63 seconds broke the previous overall record of 1.68 seconds set by William Polly at last year’s World Championships.

In addition to setting a new 3-3-3 overall world record, Miller, a member of Team USA from Moreland Georgia, laid claim to every individual overall record in his home state! The Lady’s Island competition also saw three overall South Carolina records set in the Timed 3-6-3 Relay, Individual 3-6-3 and Cycle. In all, 12 new records were set at this tournament.

New Cycle Overall World Record

In 2009, Steven Purugganan broke 6 seconds in the Cycle setting a new world record of 5.93 seconds. Two years later Mason Langenderfer matched him with the exact same time, and the two have jointly held the record since.

The WSSA is pleased and excited to announce that Team USA member Mike McCoy, 15, trumped that long-standing record with a lightning fast time of 5.91 seconds. It was set at the fourth annual Connecticut State Sport Stacking Championships in Baltic on December 3, 2011. In addition to Mike’s new overall record, 34 additional new records were set at this tournament.
