Dear WSSA Sport Stacking Community,
For some time now the WSSA Board of Directors has been contemplating a change involving the frequency of the WSSA World Sport Stacking Championships (WSSC). In many discussions with our international community, the WSSA Board of Directors has decided to change the frequency of the WSSC. After the 2025 WSSC in Switzerland, the WSSC frequency will change to every other year. With this change, Asia will be scheduled to host the next WSSC in March or April of 2027. The continental rotation will continue in 2029 with North America hosting and back in Europe in 2031.
In discussions with our international community, this frequency change, to every other year, was favored for a couple of reasons. First, we have established continental marquee events in Asia, Europe and North America providing strong avenues for stackers to compete at a high level. The Asian Open, European Open and the AAU Junior Olympics Games will continue to serve as the prominent stacking events in each continent.
Second, our international community has expressed concerns with their participants' ability to financially afford attending both the WSSC and their respective continental marquee events each year. In many cases families need to choose one or the other as they cannot always afford both.
While this decision may disappoint some, it may come as a relief to others. As the WSSA Board, we strive to make good decisions for the overall community, even though these may not always be popular. By making this change, we hope it will lessen the burdens on some and encourage all to attend their continental marquee events as well as the WSSC every other year.
Sincerely,
The WSSA Board of Directors
