The World Sport Stacking Association has appointed an International Board of Directors to help bring a more diverse, world view to the WSSA’s leadership and decision making processes.
Don started with the WSSA in 2005 and has held a variety of roles within the organization. Don has a background in finance, banking and operations management. Don partnered with Larry Goers in 2015 when Bob and Jill Fox retired from the WSSA. In 2023 Don took over as WSSA Chairman and looks forward to building and growing Sport Stacking tournaments and competitions around the world.
Chad's involvement with the WSSA began in 2008, and since then, he has played a pivotal role in every major tournament. As a member of the WSSA Rules Committee, Chad not only developed StackTrack, our cutting-edge tournament management software, but also spearheads thewssa.com, showcasing the vibrant essence of our sport.
His contributions have been instrumental in fostering the WSSA's global reach, as he has continuously developed tools and systems to support thousands of stackers worldwide. From organizing tournaments to supporting our annual World Record STACK UP!, which attracted a staggering 746,698 participants, Chad has been actively engaged at every stage of our journey.
Jeremy Simmonds has been at the forefront of leading WSSA UK & Ireland since 2016. His journey commenced when he, along with his company, delved into providing Sport Stacking programs in schools. Under Jeremy's leadership, the WSSA UK board has successfully hosted a series of sanctioned tournaments over the years, including the UK's first marquee event in 2023 – the European Sport Stacking Championships.
Residing in the peaceful rural landscape of Cambridgeshire with his wife Rachel, two foster children, and a lively household of cats alongside their dog Winston, Jeremy's professional voyage commenced in IT. A pivotal shift led him to dedicate 13 years to senior leadership and business development at a local secondary school, where fate introduced him to Di Baker, his current business partner, and co-founder of thier sports company Improve it Ltd.
Their company is devoted to providing PE support and provision to schools across the UK, ensuring every young person has a sporting chance. Additionally, they offer business consultancy with a focus on Sport and Education. Their entry into Sport Stacking in 2016 ignited Jeremy's passion for the sport, swiftly making it the central focus for the company. Jeremy, Di, and their team of sport stacking enthusiasts are champions for the sport, organizing competitions and nurturing its flourishing growth in schools and the wider community.
Jeremy's impactful journey led him to represent Europe on the WSSA Board of Directors in 2018, a testament to the rapid success and growth of Sport Stacking within the UK. His current focus is obtaining national governing body recognition for Sport Stacking by Sport England and the governments in UK, Ireland and France. Actively working towards establishing Sport Stacking as a recognized sport within the national sports framework.
Beyond Sport Stacking, Jeremy has served as a board member for a national charity, contributing to the provision of employability skills for young people. Alongside his wife, he is a dedicated Foster Carer and actively mentors fellow foster carers, where he also chairs a Foster Carer support group.
In his moments of reprieve, Jeremy enjoys family walks with their dog and indulges in the love of sports and movies, occasionally squeezing in a game of tennis when his knees allow!
Woosuk Kang has been the leader of WSSA Korea since 2011 and in that time has built an impressive foundation of sport stacking within Korea’s educational system. Woosuk cares deeply about stacking and has established a rigorous training and certification system for sport stacking coaches and judges within the country. He hosted the World Championships in 2014 and the Asian Open in 2016 and under his leadership, Under Woosuk’s guidance, Korea has become a dominant force in the world of stacking, with many records to their credit.
Lori Bifarella is a retired Elementary Physical Education specialist who taught physical education and aquatics at all levels from Pre-kindergarten to Senior High School students for 34 years. She spent her last 29 years specializing in elementary physical education in Attica NY where she resides with her husband Peter. Lori retired from teaching physical education in June of 2022.
Lori was recognized by the New York State Association for Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance in 2016 as the Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the year. SHAPE America has recognized Lori as the 2018 Eastern District Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year. SHAPE America Eastern District serves members in the following states and territories: Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont and the Virgin Islands. Lori was recognized as the NYSAHPERD Professional of the year in 2022 and is now the current (2023-2024) President-Elect for NYS AHPERD. She will be President of NYS AHPERD in 2024-2025.
Throughout her career Lori has attended and presented at many physical education conferences around the country. She has presented for state associations including, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Texas, The EPEW (Elementary Physical Educators Workshop) in California and in Tampa for the SHAPE America National Convention. It was in 2003 at a NYS AHPERS conference in Buffalo NY where she was first introduced to sport stacking. After signing up for the loaner pack program from Speed Stacks, Lori quickly jumped from teaching a stacking unit to hosting a school tournament the same year. When Lori reached out to the WSSA for guidance to improve the tournament experience for her stackers, they responded by providing tremendous support.
In 2006, Lori was asked to participate in the World Championships as a division manager for the 10-12 age division. After being asked to be the lead division manager overseeing one age division with approximately 45 teams and three brackets in a successful head-to-head double elimination 3-6-3 competition, Lori then felt confident to take on the task of hosting her first sanctioned sport stacking tournament, the New York State Championships.
From here, Lori quickly hosted many more state level tournaments and took on many more roles throughout the years as the Upper Atlantic Regional tournament director to working closely with Sport Stacking Canada and tournaments they held in Ontario and Quebec, to acting as rules interpreter at US National Championships to overseeing awards set up and presentations for the AAU Junior Olympics to video verification for World Championships Stack of Champions.
Lori has traveled across the United States, Canada, Taiwan, Spain and most recently to Singapore to assist in many different aspects of these World Championship events.
Lori is honored to be working with the WSSA International Board of Directors as the representative for the North American Region. Lori is very passionate about this sport and believes in the vision of an open dialogue with greater Europe and Asia for the betterment of the competition for all stackers.
