The "Continental Championship" is a new competition at WSSC2025. Each continent (North America, Europe, Asia) will compete with its fastest stackers in a head-to-head competition.
Coaches for each continental team will be members of the International Board of Directors: Jeremy Simmonds (Europe), Woosuk Kang (Asia), and Lori Bifarella (North America). They will select teams consisting of five stackers, with each team including at least two female and two male stackers. This means a team can either have three males and two females or two males and three females.
The individual disciplines (3-3-3, 3-6-3, and Cycle), as well as Doubles, will be contested, with each team member competing once.
In a head-to-head format, one discipline at a time will be stacked by a selected stacker from each continent. After each attempt, the fastest time earns one point. The goal is to win three points to claim the discipline and earn match points. Each individual discipline awards one match point, while winning the Doubles event earns two match points.
All five stackers must compete in either an individual event or Doubles. At least one male and one female stacker must be used in the individual events. This rule prevents teams from assigning three male stackers to individual events while reserving both female stackers for Doubles, or vice versa.
For individuals and doubles, each stacker may do one warm-up try before the races start. There are no warm-ups for relays.
Following these four events, a Timed Cycle Relay takes place (applying the usual rules of a timed relay, there won't be penalty points). The goal is to win three races (with a maximum of seven races possible). The Timed Cycle Relay awards three match points. Relay teams must consist of two male and two female stackers. Stackers can be substituted between races, provided the gender rule is maintained.
Afterward, the grand finale takes place between the two continents with the most match points. If the second- and third-placed teams have the same number of points, one final Timed Cycle Relay will determine who advances to the finale.
The finale will be a Timed Medley Relay (as seen at the 2022 Junior Olympics). This relay begins with one stacker performing a 3-3-3, followed by a second stacker adding 3 more cups to complete a 3-6-3. The third stacker will perform a Cycle, and the last two stackers will complete a Doubles Cycle. Each stacker may only participate in one discipline, and the order can differ from the individual events.
The grand finale is a best-of-five competition. The first continent to win 3 points will be crowned the Continental Champion.
The goal of this event is to showcase our sport at the maximum level of intensity and speed.
The Continental Championship will be held during the opening ceremony and will last approximately 30 minutes.
